Arabic is the official language of 22 countries, accounting for approx. 300 million Arabic speakers worldwide. The Arabic taught is that of the press, radio and television: practically the same throughout the Arabic-speaking world. This common language, known as Modern Standard Arabic , is very close to classic or literary Arabic.
