Korean as presented in this course is based on standard Korean, a dialect from Seoul in South Korea. This does not mean that the Korean spoken in the south and north are different. It is the same language but since the country was split in two in 1945, the lexicon, intonation, pronunciation and writing have progressively moved in different directions.

Learning Korean is not difficult, but the language is very different to French. Since different students have different aims, we have provided a transliteration of dialogues throughout the work for those who do not wish to learn to write in Korean. It will also be useful for everyone, since you can recognise things more easily than with this almost unrecognisable alphabet!

Available in this box set on a USB stick and on audio CD, the recordings include all the texts in Korean for each lesson and the translation exercises from the book. They have been recorded by professional native speakers. Use the USB stick to download all or part of the recordings on your MP3 player.

  • Lively, useful dialogue
  • Carefully-constructed progression
  • Exercises and revision
